Observation and study visits to the Philippines
CLD
organizes seminars and observation trips for parliamentary delegations
visiting the Philippines. The study tour aims to help parliamentary
delegations, local government officials, civil society organizations,
and women political leaders address legislative strengthening issues in
the legislative process, legislative organization and management,
budget process, legislative oversight, legislative committees,
representation, political parties, legislatures, and decentralization.
Advocacy training
CLD designs and conducts advocacy training programsincluding
strategic planning for advocacy, agenda setting, identification and
analysis of stakeholders, constituency building, and coalition building.
Local Legislative Capability Building
CLD
develops information materials to increase public understanding of the
structure and processes of the Philippine legislature, and provides
seminars on legislative advocacy to help civil society organizations
become active and informed participants in legislative decision making.
It also offers training programs and research-based information and
analysis to Members and technical staff of the Philippine Congress, and
to civil society organizations engaged in advocacy.
CLD
provides local legislators and legislative staff in the Philippines
with skills-building seminars to develop functional and analytical
skills necessary in performing legislative and constituency servicing
roles. Modules designed to strengthen local legislatures’ institutional
efficiency and effectiveness include:
